Today we’re back with a new tip: “How to hitch the trailer with a ball hitch” .
First of all, it should be remembered that the ball hitch coupling connects the trailer to the towing vehicle (diagram 1 attached).
The first step is to place the coupling head in the open position on the ball of the towing vehicle.
Then, for trailers with an automatic jockey wheel: Raise the jockey wheel. Place the coupling head over the ball of the towing vehicle. Crank the supporting wheel down until you can clearly hear the coupling head engage.
Then check the safety indicator: the indicator must be in the green area with a “+” (diagram 2 attached).
Finally, check that the ball coupling is engaged by carrying out a pull test (attempt to lift the coupling head).
Don’t forget to attach the safety cable to the car’s tow hook, or the chain for trailers without brakes!
You’re good (and safe) to go!
