Based in Vaux-le-Pénil, PAILLARD has been manufacturing axles since 1898. Our expertise has enabled us to successfully embrace changes in the industry, from horse-drawn carriages up to the most sophisticated tractors.
The company, which bears the name of its founder, André Paillard, was founded over a century ago, in 1898. Humble origins indeed. “But very quickly, as of the period between the wars, the company moved into the manufacture of brakes for heavy goods and military vehicles, before diversifying into brakes for material handling equipment in 1945.
ROAD and INDUSTRY
In the early 1960s, Paillard continued to evolve, focusing on axles for light trailers: caravans, compressors, generators, boat trailers and… horse trailers! Originally located in Vincennes, near Paris, the company moved to new premises in Vaux-le-Pénil in 1977. Alain Faurie then bought it in 2004. He gave it a whole new impetus by developing the industrial arm, creating axles for airport baggage tractors, compact road sweepers, lifting equipment, etc.
LOOKING ABROAD
Guillaume Bels, who came from the automotive industry, was recruited in October 2013 by the shareholders to accelerate the company’s international development. With the help, in particular, of Seine-et-Marne Développement, the company is now implementing a veritable international development strategy. “We currently generate 12% of our turnover abroad… but we plan to increase this to 50% very quickly.
